Elgin High School Track and/or Cross Country Scholarship 

In Memory of Kara Lyn Ratliff Lust

Purpose: 

Share the Glow Memorial Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to college-bound Elgin High School seniors based on academic achievement, student statement, and teacher/counselor recommendation, and applicants who have shown participation in track or cross country. However, all applications received will be considered in the selection process.

Criteria (for 2024):                 

Scholarships are available to students who are eligible to receive an Elgin High School diploma in the Spring of 2024, and are matriculated to an accredited college or university for Fall 2024. Consideration will be given by means of academic performance, student statement, and teacher/counselor recommendation, as well as the student’s participation in track or cross country (if applicable). Students should submit a scholarship application form available through the Elgin High School Guidance Counselor’s Office or download a Scholarship Packet HERE.

Scholarships shall be made available to students choosing to attend any accredited college or university pursuing an associate or bachelor degree program, beginning with the 2024 Fall term. Students who receive a scholarship will be eligible for $500.00 per academic year paid toward their tuition costs during the standard period required to obtain a degree, not to exceed two (2) continuous academic years for an associate’s degree, and four (4) continuous academic years for a bachelor’s degree; subsequent upon a scholarship renewal application that will be made available to the recipient. All scholarship funds shall be paid directly to the educational institution. *

Please submit a full application, including the Student Statement and the High School Teacher/Counselor form by April 26, 2024.

*Members of Share the Glow Scholarship Committee shall be active participants in the award decision, evaluating the applications and assessing how those applicants meet the criteria and guidelines set forth in this document.

 *The number of scholarships offered each year will be dependent on the monies raised from the Share the Glow annual event and private donations. Scholarships will be determined without regard to the applicant’s race, color, creed, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.

Note: Scholarships will be awarded provided funds are available through the Share the Glow Memorial Scholarship Fund or until which time the Scholarship Donor Board ceases to exist and/or expunges all funds through the award or donation process.
